EU court looks at two cases against Hinkley

The Austrian government and a group of energy firms are claiming UK government subsidies for Hinkley Point C violate state aid rules

Two legal challenges are being lodged against UK government subsidies for Hinkley Point C, claiming they violate state aid rules.

The first case, by the Austrian government, was filed in the Court of Justice of the EU on 6 July.1

The second was filed on 15 July by a group of German and Austrian green energy suppliers and municipal utility firms. These include Greenpeace Energy, a cooperative set up by Greenpeace Germany, which is now an independent organisation.
