The Scottish government is proposing to end planning permission requirements for solar panels over 50 kilowatts on commercial properties.

The consultation, which runs until 27 August, also seeks views on waiving planning permission for the installation of domestic air-source heat pumps.1

Removal of the planning application step could have sweeping benefits for the two industries by eliminating planning application fees and the cost of preparing applications. But businesses will still have to adhere to criteria to gain permitted development rights.
