A new draft code of practice reflects regulatory changes over the past 20 years and aims to make it easier for waste operators to comply

Draft guidance on duty of care requirements for the waste industry in England and Wales has been published.

DEFRA and the Welsh government are consulting on an updated code of practice to reflect regulatory changes and to make compliance easier.

Duty of care is a legal requirement for anyone dealing with controlled wastes, including producers, carriers, dealers, brokers and managers, and is set out in the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
