A Doncaster-based carbon capture and storage (CCS) project, identified by the European Commission as the best in Europe, will have to be abandoned after the energy and climate department (DECC) announced it will not provide the scheme with grant funding.

On 30 October, DECC revealed a shortlist of four projects for its £1bn CCS competition (ENDS Report, April 2012).
