Northern Irish businesses get Renewable Heat Incentive

Firms and councils can claim 20-year subsidies for installing equipment like biomass boilers

Businesses and public sector bodies in Northern Ireland can now claim subsidies for generating renewable heat from sources such as biomass boilers.

The Northern Ireland Renewable Heat Incentive, administered by Ofgem, opened for applications on 1 November.

Table: Northern Irish Renewable Incentive RatesIt will pay owners of renewables a tariff for each unit of heat they generate (see table). Payments last 20 years.
