Obama bans US airlines from EU ETS

US airlines have permission to be exempted from the EU emissions trading scheme

The US's EU Emissions Trading System Prohibition Act exempts American airlines from the EU ETSBarack Obama has allowed US airlines to be exempted from taking part in the EU emission trading scheme (EU ETS).

The US president approved the EU Emissions Trading System Prohibition Act on 28 November, following lobbying by airlines. It allows the US transport secretary to ban airlines from the European scheme.
