Treasury gives £120m to counter flood defence spending cuts

The Treasury has pledged £120m of extra money for new English flood defences, partly to protect businesses and boost growth in five cities

Flooding. Credit: Environment AgencyThe government will boost spending on flood defences in England by £120m over the next two financial years, the Treasury announced on 30 November.

It wants investment in flood protection to secure jobs, businesses and promote economic growth in Derby, Exeter, Ipswich, Leeds and Sheffield.
