Industrial strategy aims to boost offshore wind jobs

The number of jobs created will depend on how many offshore wind projects are subsidised, but the government's messages on this have been mixed

Offshore wind projects could support up to 30,000 jobs in the UK by 2020 and contribute £7bn to the economy, according to a joint government and business industrial strategy published on 1 August.

The strategy’s focus on the potential employment benefits of offshore wind marks an attempt by the Liberal Democrat members of the coalition to bring focus back to renewables from shale gas.
