DECC clarifies position on Green Deal objectives and reporting

The Green Deal has a clear carbon-saving expectation, but not a target, and success should not only be seen in terms of plans signed up to, says DECC

Carbon savings are the Green Deal’s main aim and success should be seen in terms of the overall household energy efficiency activity it stimulates, DECC has said in response to MP criticisms of its management of the scheme.

DECC’s comments were made in its 26 July response to a House of Commons Energy and Climate Change Committee report criticising the department for failing to adopt clear success criteria and monitoring and reporting practices for the Green Deal following concerns over poor rates of take-up and high interest rates.
