Lib Dems promise Green Deal overhaul, but admit money is tight

A “green jobs” policy paper to be adopted at this year’s party conference also proposes banning all vehicles from Britain’s roads by 2040 unless they are “ultra-low carbon”

The Liberal Democrats would set a target to halve energy demand by 2030 if they won the next election, according to a policy paper published in August.

They would achieve it by overhauling the Green Deal energy efficiency scheme and offering stamp duty rebates for householders who significantly improve the energy rating of a property within two years of buying it.
