Humans 'extremely likely' the dominant cause of global warming

The latest IPCC report leaves little room for doubt that human activity is now the main driver for climate change, and predicts weakening of the gulfstream by 2050

Polar bears. Credit: NOAAThe long-anticipated fifth Assessment Report (AR5) on the science of global climate change released on 27 September concludes that human activities are “extremely likely” to explain most global warming experienced since at least the 1950s.

Language in the latest report, prepared by a team of scientists through the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has been notably sharpened since the last report in 2007.
