MPs to investigate biodiversity offsets

The Environmental Audit Committee will conduct a short supplementary inquiry to contribute to the debate over the use of biodiversity offsets in England

The House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee has launched an inquiry into biodiversity offsetting.

It will hear from witnesses at a single evidence session on 23 October with written submissions due by 15 October.

The inquiry is being timed so that its report can contribute to DEFRA’s plans to introduce a national biodiversity offsetting scheme for England, set out in a green paper consultation last month.
