Environment Agency unveils new format for CRC reporting

The agency’s new Carbon Reduction Commitment annual data reports will include total emissions but lack carbon intensity metrics, ruling out energy efficiency benchmarking. But more data is included on energy generated onsite

The new format of the Environment Agency’s annual reports covering participants’ emissions under the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC) was revealed on 3 October.

The announcement ends a long period of uncertainty and debate over what the more than 2,000 participants must report on annually.

As anticipated, these will no longer rank participants by performance in terms of total annual carbon emissions, emissions intensity and early actions such as half hourly meter installation and certification under the Carbon Trust Standard.
