Environmental consultancy sector grows 5% in 2012

Rising mining sector, infrastructure project and international revenues secured the second successive year of solid growth for the UK’s environmental consultancy sector

The UK environmental consultancy sector’s turnover grew by 5.2% to reach £1.3bn in 2012/13.

The solid showing was revealed in an annual market report from Environment Analyst which found that rapid growth in parts of the private sector is spearheading recovery. This is more than offsetting the continuing fall in public sector income.

The impressive 5.2% revenue rise in the last financial year was achieved against the backdrop of just 0.2% GDP growth for the UK economy overall. This strong performance, building on the 3.9% rise in revenues in 2011, confirms the sector’s emergence from recession.
