New target and compliance fee for WEEE

The business department is making changes to how producers, compliance schemes and councils collect and treat electrical waste

The Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) is introducing a new target and compliance fee regime for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) as part of an overhaul of producer responsibility regulation.

The decision follows a consultation in May, which generated 256 responses from producers, councils, trade bodies, compliance schemes, treatment facilities and waste firms.
