Grocery sector wastes 4.3Mt of food a year

The report finds that the grocery sector is disposing of £6.9bn worth of food and packaging waste each year – equivalent to 7% of UK household food and drink sales.

This means that financial losses incurred by the food industry due to waste are likely to be greater than the profit margins of many retailers and manufacturers.
