DEFRA consults on Aarhus compliance

A government report showing how the UK has implemented the Aarhus Convention is at odds with recent consultations on judicial review.

DEFRA is consulting on a draft report explaining how it complies with the Aarhus Convention just weeks after publishing plans to curtail judicial review.

The report lists the measures the UK has taken to implement the convention, which includes requirements on access to environmental information, public participation in decision making and access to justice.1 Signatory states are required to submit a national implementation report every three years.
