Climate committee defends its 2023-27 carbon budget

A downward revision in greenhouse gas targets for the 2020s would severely undermine the UK’s credibility in EU negotiations, says CCC.

Its latest stance, which emerged in a letter to energy and climate secretary Ed Davey from chairman Lord Deben on 3 October, could put it on a collision course with a Cabinet that is increasingly divided over the future direction of climate policy. 1
