New-style CRC reporting plan

The Environment Agency is to include organisations’ total emissions but not carbon intensity metrics or performance rankings.

The new format of the Environment Agency’s annual reports covering participants’ emissions under the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC) was revealed on 3 October.

These will no longer rank participants by performance in terms of total annual carbon emissions, emissions intensity and early actions such as half-hourly meter installation and certification under the Carbon Trust Standard.

The agency no longer has to publish performance assessments (ENDS Report 458, p29). Instead, from 2012/13 onwards it will publish a document known as the CRC Annual Report Information (ARI). The first is expected in November. For each participant, ARIs will include six quantitative metrics.
