Intervention needed for sustainability

More than 80% of business leaders call for policies to support the drive for corporate sustainability.

Corporate sustainability has hit a plateau and will not progress further without government intervention to address market failures, a survey has found.1

The survey was commissioned from consultants Accenture by the UN Global Compact (see p43). It included an online survey of 1,000 chief executives of companies that participate in the compact. Accenture also conducted in-depth interviews with 100 chief executives and other senior figures from companies such as AP Moller-Maersk, HSBC, Novartis and Philips Electronics.
