Agreement on ends, healthy disagreement on means

Lord Deben: Governments would be foolish to ignore the scientific evidence on climate change. There should be agreement on the need for an 80% cut in carbon emissions by 2050, but not all will agree on the means to achieve it

Yet people believe in homeopathy, Scientology still attracts followers and large numbers don't believe that climate change is happening or that human beings are its major cause. This is even though the climate link is as firmly established scientifically as the link between smoking and cancer.
