First civil sanction for shipment of waste regulations

The Environment Agency has agreed nine new enforcement undertakings for breaches of packaging, waste shipment and hazardous waste regulations

A company that illegally exported waste is one of nine to have donated money to charity for breaching environmental regulations.

The latest list of enforcement undertakings agreed by the Environment Agency covers the period between 1 February and 31 July.

The largest undertaking was by Bennelong Golf Ltd, which runs golf courses across the UK under the Crown Golf brand.

The company should have registered as a producer under the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations 2007, based on in its annual turnover and the amount of packaging its handles. But it failed to do this.
