Further limits on judicial review slammed by green groups

Government plans to restrict judicial reviews have been strongly criticised by lawyers and NGOs as an ‘attack on democracy’

Plans to further limit judicial review in environmental cases are being seen as part of a systematic attack on the democratic process in England and Wales by green NGOs and civil rights groups.

A Ministry of Justice (MoJ) consultation, which ended on 1 November, outlined proposals to narrow the scope of who is eligible to take out a judicial review and to transfer planning challenges to a different court.
