CRC emissions unchanged but councils lose ground

The third set of CRC annual data suggests emissions may have risen and public sector performance fallen. But they largely defy interpretation due to changes in rules and reporting.

Machester town hall. Credit: DreamstimeAnnual emissions from the Carbon Reduction Commitment energy efficiency scheme (CRC) reached 56.3 million tonnes CO2 over 2012/13, according to latest data from the Environment Agency. 

This is almost identical to the 56.2MtCO2 recorded in 2011/12, with similar numbers of participants at around 2,000. But this contrasts sharply with the 7.3% reduction recorded between 2010/11 and 2011/12.
