Yeo returns to energy and climate committee, but for how long?

A Commons’ committee has cleared Tim Yeo MP of offering to lobby for renewable energy firms. But its next investigation could impact upon his role as chair of the energy committee

Tim Yeo MP is to return as chairman of the House of Commons Energy and Climate Change Committee after being cleared of allegations that he would use his influence to lobby for renewable energy firms.

Yeo stepped aside in June after the Sunday Times published the allegations following a meeting he had with undercover reporters.

On 21 November, the Common’s Committee on Standards issued a report saying the full transcripts of that meeting show he did not actually offer to use his influence inappropriately.
