Grocery firms cut food and packaging waste

Over 50 firms including Heinz and Asda have cut food and packaging waste by 1.7 million tonnes under WRAP’s Courtauld commitment

Heinz, Asda, Premier Foods and some 50 other companies have helped cut food and packaging waste by 1.7 million tonnes saving the UK some £3.1bn under an official voluntary agreement.

The companies are all members of the Courtauld commitment to improve resource efficiency and reduce waste in the UK grocery sector. Launched in 2005 and administered by the Waste and Resources Action Programme WRAP , the scheme is now it is third phase.
