Agency launches risk-rating scheme to target IPC inspections

The Environment Agency has introduced a long-awaited system for assessing the risks posed by industrial processes regulated under integrated pollution control (IPC).1 The scheme will be used to target inspections and may form the basis of a revised IPC charging scheme. The Agency has dropped plans to make the assessment results public - but may be forced to disclose them on request.
