Winners of contaminated land funding for England announced

Funding for England’s 2012/13 contaminated land grant programme has remained at the same low level as last year

The Environment Agency has granted 49 English projects a share of £4m for investigating and remediating contaminated land.

The money comes from the 2012/13 round of the agency’s contaminated land capital grant programme, which helps councils and the agency itself check and clean-up sites.

The funding available covers less than half the £10.7m value of bids received but is at a similar level to last year’s £4.17m allocation (ENDS Report, August 2011). The original allocation in 2010/11 was nearer £20m.
