OFT finds flaws in insulation product market

Far more needs to be done to boost the quality and quantity of the home insulation market and to cut costs in the future, an inquiry shows.

An inquiry into home insulation products by the Office of Fair Trading has revealed shortcomings in the market, which was worth £700-800m in 2010.1

The report, published on 1 August, was commissioned partly in response to widespread complaints.

But it was also carried out quickly to inform the Green Deal energy efficiency upgrade scheme, which launches in
October (ENDS Report 446, pp 28-31).
