Decision to abolish RSSs reassessed

New strategic environmental assessments are being produced following a ruling by the Court of Justice of the EU

The government is producing a new set of strategic environmental assessments (SEAs) of the impact of its decision to revoke regional spatial strategies (RSSs), the communities department (DCLG) announced in July.

The move follows a ‘significant’ ruling by the Court of Justice of the EU on a Belgian case, in which a group of Brussels neighbourhood committees challenged an order by the city’s regional authority that repealed parts of the capital’s planning code.
