Wales designates priority noise areas

185 noise action planning priority areas have been identified in Wales

The Welsh government has created 185 noise action planning priority areas (NAPPAs) as part of its work to implement the EU Environmental Noise Directive.

Last year it consulted on how to identify NAPPAs, where residents are exposed to high levels of noise from roads or railways (ENDS Report 433, p 47).

Now it has published maps showing the location of 185 areas meeting the criteria used. The next step is to consider whether resources are available for noise mitigation in each area and then to assess possible measures.
