Agency accepts nine enforcement undertakings for packaging errors

Compensation totalling £77,000 for nine enforcement undertakings was accepted by the Environment Agency in June and July. Food companies topped the list.

The Environment Agency accepted nine enforcement undertakings by companies to pay donations to charity in place of prosecutions in June and July, all for breaches of the Packaging Waste Regulations.

The largest compensation payment is £24,601, which was donated to the Grasslands Trust by south-east England-based food importer Rondanini UK Ltd.

The second largest donation was £14,648, split equally between the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust and the Westonbirt Arboretum by food and disposable item supplier Good Morning Disposables.
