The Treasury says environmental taxation is set to double in the next four years

The Treasury says environmental taxation is set to double in the next four years. But it redefined the term in July,1 basing it on three principles: the taxes are linked to the government’s environmental objectives; their primary aim is to encourage positive behaviour; and they are structured to meet environmental objectives, for example, the more polluting a behaviour, the higher the tax.
