DECC announces fund for energy efficiency innovators

The £16m “energy entrepreneurs” fund will also be available to energy storage and renewables firms

Start-ups and SMEs are being invited to apply for a share of £16m to fund the development of novel energy efficiency technologies.

On 23 August, the energy and climate department (DECC) launched the first phase of its energy entrepreneurs fund.

Firms can bid for money to develop new technologies, build commercially usable prototypes or run trials.

Some £10m is available for energy efficiency technologies including building control systems, advanced lighting systems and space heating and cooling technologies.
