Firms and DEFRA commit to ‘sustainable’ palm oil

The government and business groups have committed to sustainable palm oil but only the government has set a deadline

Palm oil used in food for central government in England will have to meet sustainability requirements by the end of 2015, the environment department (DEFRA) said on 30 October.

The announcement is part of a joint commitment with 13 sector organisations and WWF to “work towards” sourcing 100% “credibly certified” sustainable palm oil across the UK by the end of 2015.
