BSI launches energy auditing standard

A robust energy audit is the first step towards reducing wasteful energy use and saving money, body says

Energy managers will be able to take a more robust approach to audits of energy use at their sites using a standard published by the BSI on 31 October.

BS EN 16247-1 is a European standard aimed at helping companies and public bodies plan and carry out effective energy audits.

Gathering information on current energy use through an audit is the first step in good energy management. It enables organisations to set targets to reduce consumption and save money.
