Two low-carbon vehicle competitions announced

The Technology Strategy Board has set aside some £26m for highly innovative automotive research projects

More than £26m has been set aside for low-carbon vehicle research projects under two competitions run by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB).

Applicants for both competitions, which will open in the new year, must be collaborative and industry-led. The TSB is particularly keen on companies working outside the automotive sector that can bring technical expertise and knowledge to a consortium.

A recent report by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and consultancy KPMG found UK technology companies particularly well placed to benefit from the shift towards low-carbon transport (ENDS Report, October 2012).
