A company that develops new recycling technologies is to build a laminated packing demonstration plant in Cambridgeshire.

Enval, backed by stakeholders including Nestlé and Kraft Foods, is to build a commercial-scale plant based on its patented process for dealing with flexible laminated plastic and aluminium packaging.

Laminated film packaging is becoming increasingly popular for products such as food, drinks, pet foods, toothpastes and cosmetic products. It provides a lightweight high-barrier package which means that refrigeration is not required until opening.
