Reduced fees for industrial process regulation by English and Welsh councils have been extended to quarry, mineral, timber, cement and coal-related activities while other fees remain frozen.

The changes result from a revision to the charging scheme for council regulation under local air pollution prevention and control (LAPPC), known as ‘part B’.1

The environment department (DEFRA) consulted on revised guidance for these processes in April (ENDS Report 447, p 35).
