RS Plating, based in Burnley, Lancashire, was fined £10,000 with costs of £4,000 for polluting a river

RS Plating, based in Burnley, Lancashire, was fined £10,000 with costs of £4,000 on 25 October after it allowed a punctured container of sodium hypochlorite solution to pollute a river.

Pennine magistrates heard the Environment Agency received reports of dead fish in the river Brun on 9 November 2011. More dead fish were reported around Burnley town centre in the following days, including brown trout and hundreds of smaller species.
