£45m for low-carbon network projects

Five electricity network operators have won Ofgem funding for low-carbon network projects

Energy regulator Ofgem approved five projects totalling £45.5m under its Low Carbon Networks fund on 23 November.

The funding covers projects aimed at integrating decentralised or distributed energy into the grid. These aim to cost effectively manage their impact on networks and ensure voltage control.

Other funded projects include intelligent sockets to manage demand from electric vehicle charging and cost-effective battery storage.
