Toxics discharge figures likely to confuse

DDT and the "drins" - pesticides banned for many years - appear alongside other toxic and persistent substances in the Agency's inventory. A further surprise is the identity of some of the companies apparently discharging them. ENDS' inquiries about these figures suggest that some are liable to mislead because of variations in reporting practices and problems with data quality.
