Gwynt y Môr wind farm gets go-ahead

RWE Npower's 576MW plant to be built in Liverpool Bay

RWE Npower gave the go-ahead for its Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm in June.

The 576 megawatt peak capacity wind farm, to be built in Liverpool Bay, was one of five offshore wind projects put on hold last year due to rising costs (ENDS Report 411, p 13-15). But in December’s pre-Budget report the Labour government announced it would increase support for projects accredited before March 2014 (ENDS Report 419, pp 5-6).
