EU air pollution continues to decline
EU sulphur dioxide emissions in 2007 were less than a quarter of those in 1990, according to the European Environment Agency (EEA).1 The cut is due to flue-gas desulphurisation being introduced in thermal power plants and road fuel quality standards (ENDS Reports 413, p 21 and 336, p 51
