Balfour Beatty fined over oil threat

Construction giant Balfour Beatty has been fined £12,000 after polluting groundwater beneath a motorway maintenance depot in Clevedon, North Somerset, which it managed on behalf of the Highways Agency. The pollution threatened the town’s water supplies drawn from a Bristol Water borehole only 250 metres away.
