N2O study group set up

Researchers at the University of East Anglia have set up a multi-disciplinary consortium to investigate the sources and sinks of nitrous oxide, and ways of reducing emissions.

They describe N2O as the "forgotten greenhouse gas", which is 300 times more potent than carbon dioxide and accounts for 9% of global greenhouse gas emissions, but often overlooked.

The Nitrous Oxide Focus Group plans to work with the government, farmers, food manufacturers and retailers.
