Commission may remove statutory priority for waste oil recycling

The European Commission is questioning whether the existing legal priority for waste oil recycling, or "regeneration", over its use as fuel should continue, according to a consultation on the revision of the waste oils Directive issued in January. The UK, which faces legal action from the Commission for failing to transpose the Directive, is believed to support the scrapping of regeneration’s preferred status.
