Agency pushes paper producers under IPPC improvement plans

Paper manufacturers are finding that receiving a permit under the new integrated pollution prevention and control (IPPC) regime is only the start of an ongoing process to drive environmental improvements. The Environment Agency has set many wide-ranging improvement conditions requiring the sector to examine its use of harmful chemicals, explore alternatives to land spreading of sludge and reduce noise.
