A disturbing tale from the clinical waste front

In its most high-profile prosecution for several years, the Environment Agency secured fines totalling £100,000 in February against one of Britain's leading clinical waste disposal contractors, Eurocare Environmental Services, for a string of waste and pollution offences. Deliberate and reckless criminality, gross management shortcomings and flouting of the law at all levels of the company were the hallmarks of the case. What the court did not hear about was the pressure tactics used by the company against the Agency inspector who policed its Wrexham incinerator.
