Firms call for solar industry cash - but BP Solar stays out in the cold

Government support of just £150 million over ten years could kick-start a self-sustaining solar power industry in the UK to rival those in Germany and Japan, according to a cross-sector group of British companies. But leading photovoltaic (PV) cell manufacturer BP Solar failed to support the initiative - bringing into doubt its parent company's commitment to renewable energy.
